Taste of Home and a Brand NEW Product!

IMG_2352_20141028-175200_1.JPG

International Sugar Art Collection Field Trip!

Last Thursday, Scott, Gretchen, Molly, and I got to go on a fun little field trip! We took part in the Taste of Home Cooking School event in Atlanta. Taste of Home is a cooking and lifestyle magazine, and they host cooking school recipe demonstrations all over the country. It was a lot of fun and we met some wonderful new people!

We had a great booth in the vendor section. We raffled off a seat in Chef Nicholas’ Gumpaste for the Holidays class, told everyone about our First Annual Edible Snow Globe contest, donated two gift baskets for the Taste of Home drawing, and we debuted a brand new product!

What is this new product of which I speak? It’s pretty awesome, and it is right in time for the holiday season! Peppermint Crunch Kit! Our fun little kit comes with everything you need to make half of a pound of your very own peppermint crunch (also known as peppermint bark). Inside the bag you will find white chocolate, peppermint crunch pieces, detailed instructions with photographs, a cellophane bag for packaging your finished peppermint crunch, AND the bag it comes in is a holiday gift bag (should you want to make a gift of your delicious peppermint crunch!). The kit is perfect to buy and make for yourself, to make and give as a gift, or you could give the kit itself as a fun gift! Perfect for coworkers, teachers, secret Santa exchanges, stocking stuffers, the list goes on and on! Oh, and the crunch is so easy to make! You don’t need any special or fancy candy making tools! Just five minutes and a microwave!

We made a huge batch of our peppermint crunch and took samples to the Taste of Home Cooking School event. We ran out of samples. Before the cooking demonstrations even started. That’s right. It is AMAZINGLY yummy! In case you have any doubt about how simple it is to make this scrumptious Peppermint Crunch, I offer this example preparation photo:

If you’d like to order your very own crunch kit, you can order it here at our store, or from our NEW Etsy shop!  It will also be available for purchase at our Grand Holiday Open House. And that, my friends, leads me to…

Grand Holiday Open House and Snow Globe Contest

Our annual holiday fun-tastic Open House is right around the corner! Less than two weeks to go! There are only a few seats available, so if you are interested in attending, please call us at 1-800-662-8925. I am so excited to see everyone at the Open House AND to see all the fun demonstrations given by Scott, Chef Nicholas, and Autumn Carpenter.  Truth be told, I am the most excited about our First Annual Edible Snow Globe Contest! Snow Globe entries must be turned in next week! Starting Saturday November 1, 2014 you can drop off your snow globes at ISAC through Wednesday November 5, 2014. Now is the time to finalize your design and get to work! If you need supplies we have plenty of snow globe domes, chocolate, sugar and royal icing lay ons, chocolate and candy molds, and all other tools you may need! If you would like to read more about the contest, click here.  I have talked your ear off about these snow globes. Don’t disappoint me ISAC blog readers- I can’t wait to see what you create!

Autumn Carpenter still has openings in her Grand Holiday Cookie class, offered the Monday and Tuesday after our Open House. In this class, Autumn will be sharing all of her great cookie decorating techniques; students will leave with at least 12 cookies and a small cookie bouquet! You can read more about Autumn’s class by clicking here

Sweet Wishes,

Stephanie
