Royal… Royal Icing!

DSC_0899-Final1.jpg

After two weeks of royal wedding blogs, it seems fitting that this week I get to introduce the third module of Renshaw Academy- Royal Icing! This is the third Renshaw Academy class being offered by Chef Nicholas Lodge this year. It is one of three modules needed to earn the Renshaw Academy Master Certification! This class offers two brand new techniques cakes, designed by Chef Nicholas specifically for this module!

Renshaw Academy Royal Icing Module.

During this royally impressive class, students will learn color flow, run-out, Wedgwood style figure piping, lace and filigree, Lambeth and English-style border work and string work. Students will learn the finer points of how to smoothly coat a cake with royal icing. Many different styles and techniques in this class can only be described as supremely elegant. Students will leave this class with the necessary confidence of working with royal icing. All classroom work is performed on two dummy cakes, so you will take home a permanent reminder of all the techniques learned over the three days.

Unlike the other two Renshaw Academy modules, Sugar Flowers and Sugarpaste, we do not recommend this class for beginners. Rather, it is recommended that students who wish to attend this class first attend the Renshaw Academy Sugarpaste Module class with Nicholas Lodge, as the Renshaw Academy Royal Icing Module class will build upon skills and techniques learned during the Renshaw Academy Sugarpaste Module class. This is strongly recommended, but not necessarily a requirement.

Once this class is completed, students will receive certificates from Chef Nicholas Lodge and ISAC and Renshaw Academy. If a student has taken the previous two modules, and completes this modules, the Renshaw Academy Master Certificate will also be awarded.

Harry and Meghan may not have had a royal icing covered wedding cake, but Will and Kate did, and it was EPIC! If you want to continue the royal tradition with royal icing, the first ever Renshaw Academy Royal Icing Module is June 16-18, 2017. There are still seats available so sign up today. You’ll be certified royal!

Sweetly yours,
