Everyone at ISAC is way beyond excited because Mayen Orido from Way Beyond Cakes is coming to teach two incredible classes in Studio B this July. Everyone knows about sculpted cakes and gravity defying cakes. These cakes are eye-catching and mind boggling. Mayen is taking these types of cakes even further! Would you like a purse cake that actually hangs down when you carry it? What about an old school boombox cake you can carry on your shoulder and HAVE IT PLAY ACTUAL MUSIC?! We are absolutely thrilled to have Mayen come teach both of these classes! Read on for more information about these amazing hanging cake classes and Chef Mayen!

Chef Nicholas and the ISAC team are happy to help bring Chef Mayen to all the cake lovers here in the Atlanta area, and many surrounding states. This July, Chef Mayen will be offering two classes in our Studio B. The first, on July 21, 2018, is her Hermes-inspired hanging handbag cake. Students will be using real cake and semisweet chocolate ganache to make this gravity defying cake. This class is open to both beginners, intermediate, and experienced students; everyone will take home a tutorial video and notes to ensure that they can recreate the perfect designer bag every time! Chef Mayen will be teaching the students how to carve and stack cakes; focusing on proper cake structure construction. Covering cakes with ganache and fondant will also be covered in this class. Oh, and guess what? The first five people to sign up for this class are getting an extra surprise!!! These first five students will be receiving an EXTRA Hanging Handbag kit that they can use right away! Um, YAY! If you are dying for your very own Hermes-inspired hanging handbag cake, then be sure to sign up soon! You can click the photo below to be taken to the registration page, or just click here.

Chef Mayen’s Hermes-inspired handbag cake!

If designer handbags aren’t your scene, but you love music, then you’re going to want to dust off your old school boombox for some inspiration in Chef Mayen’s Boombox cake WITH SOUND!!! Oh, yes… ACTUAL SOUND will be coming out of your boombox cake. What sounds you ask? Why any sound, music, song you’d like. Heck, you can even record a personal message to play! Come on, that is AMAZING!

In this class students will learn the basics of making a structure that enables them to lift and carry the cake with them; Chef Mayen will actually be showing the students several ways of doing so, and not just limit it to the unique structure for this specific cake. Chef Mayen will also be teaching her class ways to ensure the cake does not topple over and will remain secure as you lift, and even sway it around. Additionally, students will be learning many other techniques including stacking cakes, cover cakes with semisweet chocolate ganache (with a smooth, sharp edge), and covering cakes using the paneling method. Students will be working with real cake, fondant, gumpaste, edible dusts, and much more. Oh my GOSH you guys! This cake is so fun and it plays real music! I am so excited for Chef Mayen to come teach this class! (Can you tell?!) If you are anything like me, you are dying to sign up for this class on July 22, 2018. So, hop on over to our registration page here to sign up, or click the photo below.
