Nicholas Lodge and the

International Sugar Art Collection have a new blog!

Welcome to our blog! We here at Nicholas Lodge’s International Sugar Art Collection (ISAC) are very excited to be connecting with our students, customers, and fans in this fun and informative way! Our goal is to share new and exciting products, tried and true products, quick demonstration videos, discuss upcoming events and classes, and maybe even some fun giveaways and contests for our readers.

I know you are all wondering if this is Nicholas Lodge himself blogging away for your entertainment. Alas, it is not. This blog will be written by the ISAC social media goddess- Stephanie (hiya!). I have been a part of the Chef Lodge team since 2010, and I am very excited to take on this new role. I can’t wait to connect with all of Chef Lodge’s amazing and loyal fans. We are going to have a whole lot of fun here, so let’s get started!

Fondant, Luster, and Gel! Jadeite- The Hot New Color

Nicholas Lodge has long been partnered with Albert Uster Imports as a spokesperson for their amazing Massa Grischuna rolled fondant. This week they have released their new color of the season, inspired by vintage green glassware- Jadeite. We are very excited to announce that we have three products showcasing the Jadeite color: Massa rolled fondant, Pastry Ideal Gel Color, and Pastry Ideal Luster Powder. I hope that you love this elegant green color as much as we do! All three of the new Jadeite products will be in stock in our store this Friday, and they are just waiting for you to give them a try! We can’t wait to hear what you all think of this new color; please share your thoughts with us in our comment section!

Cake Buzz- New and Upcoming Classes

This year we are pleased to be teaching and hosting so many fun classes! Chef Lodge has an upcoming class, New Trends in Gumpaste Flowers, brand new to 2014! This class begins on June 2, 2014, and lucky you, there are still spaces available! In this class Chef Lodge will be teaching students how to create the Tuber Rose, Bells of Ireland, Love in a Mist, Oriental Peony, Parrot Tulip, and Succulents. You can sign up by visiting our class list page or by clicking here. We have so many classes in June that there really is something for everyone! If you love sugar flowers, besides our New Trends class, you can also sign up for our Summer Gumpaste Flower class. You will learn seven, that’s right SEVEN, beautiful summer flowers in just three days. Talk about getting more bang for your buck! Also for the flower lover is Chef Lodge’s classic 2 Day Ultimate Rose class. Honestly, I didn’t know there were so many ways to make sugar roses before meeting Chef Lodge. I bet you’re racking your brain trying to guess how many ways there are, aren’t you? Well, click the link and sign up to find out!

New Trends in Gumpaste Flowers

Maybe some of you aren’t huge into gumpaste flowers. That’s cool. Would you like to know what we have in our bag of cake tricks for you? Well, hold onto your heads! Chef Nicholas Lodge and Chef Lauren Kitchens are joining their cake decorating super powers to bring you A Modern Marie Antoinette Cake! That’s right, two of the best cake artists in the world want to teach you how to craft an amazing cake based on the infamous French queen~ You will learn how to use gumpaste, fondant, and modeling chocolate to create feathers, bejeweled flowers, and an 18th century style bouffant hairstyle. Seriously, how can you pass that up?!

If ill-fated queens aren’t your scene, but you are dying to take a class with Lauren Kitchens, I have one more awesome class to share. How about Yoda. That’s right. Grand Master of the Jedi Order. In cake. And Fondant. And modeling chocolate. Chef Kitchens will teach you how to use a food safe light sabre to carve and sculpt Yoda. Ok, sorry. No light sabres will be used, which really is a shame. However, you really will be learning to sculpt this tiny Jedi and learning proper support techniques. Since I know that you can’t use the force to sign up for this class, I’ll be happy to give you the link: The Grand Master of the Jedi Order- Yoda with Lauren Kitchens. “Patience you must have, my young Padawan.”- Yoda

  5. Hello,
Please could you offer any advice on how/where I can watch a tutorial on Love In A Mist flower? I have searched Craftsy and it does’t appear. I would really appreciate any help or advice you may be able to offer. Even if it’s only where to buy cutters, this would be amazing! Thank you so much in advance, Leanne
