Got Cake Shows?

Got Cake Shows?

Have you ever been a part of a cake show, either on a local level or a national level?   As I search the internet, there are a lot more cake shows than ever before.   Here are just a few to mention.

A new show that was just held in August was the Cake Clash! 2019.

The Cake Clash! 2019 was held at Maggiano’s restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia.  This is the first time for this event but let me tell you it will not be the last!   The competition got whittled down to 6 local bakers who were fighting for ‘bragging rights’ to the title “Best Baker in Georgia”.  The show was put together by Greta Russo in honor of her daughter.  The best part about the show was that it all benefitted the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorder Center at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Of course, Chef Nicholas was a part of this great event as a judge and advisor.  Chef pulled in some very talented judges to help make this event even better.  Thank you to Sidney Galpern and Reva Alexander-Hawk for their contribution with the judging!  Here is a great article about the event and a list of the winners.  https://www.supcreativegroup.com/cake-clash-2019–the-recap?journal=26

Another great show that just wrapped up this past weekend was the International Baking Industry Exposition or IBIE in Las Vegas, Nevada also known as the Baking Expotm and North America’s largest baking industry event.  There are attendees from all over the world that come to this show to talk about baking, sugar, business and much more.  There is so much to do at this show.  The exhibit hall and vendor area will blow you away with so many choices.  Many of the vendors will showcase their latest products, which I think is the best thing!  You could be among the first to see new ideas, equipment and products that are coming out before anyone else.  This is definitely a show to put on your Bucket List.

And…. you never know who you might run into at this show!

Here is Chef Nicholas with Reva Alexander-Hawk and the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

The last cake show I want to mention is coming up fast.  The show is Cakeology.  Cake Fest & Beyond 2019.  It will be held in Mumbai, India on September 20-22.  If you want to attend, you better hurry and sign up!  Chef Nicholas is teaching at the show and is offering a Hands-on class on Flower Pro Bridal Spray class on September 17 right before the show begins.  Anyone who has ever taken a class from Chef will know that he packs a lot into his classes.  They are the best and frankly, I would travel to India or anywhere to take his class!  They are so worth it!!

Cake shows are a wonderful way to learn about the Sugar arts.  If you have a local cake show in your area don’t be afraid to enter.  At the very least, you should always try to attend a cake show to show support for the sugar arts and to see what the latest industry trends are in your area.  Then go home and practice, practice, practice, so you can create your entry for next year!

See you at the next cake show!

Stay sweet and keep learning!
